У цьому доповненні до Lineage II розробники приділили багато уваги сюжету, геймплею та основним принципам гри. Аддон розширив ігровий світ, додав нові предмети і безліч монстрів. Що стосується кланів, то вони отримали можливість брати в облогу замки і купувати на аукціоні кланові обителі. Також були введені спеціальні арени для проведення PvP боїв, на яких не втрачався досвід і не нараховувалася Карма.

Chronicle 1: Harbingers of War додав у гру нові квести, серед яких можна виділити квест у Лігві Антараса. Як нагороду за його проходження гравці отримували доступ до битви з Антарасом, Драконом Землі.
